Leeks are related to onions but don’t form distinct bulbs. They grow 2-3 ft tall, with an edible, mild-flavored stem that resembles a long, fat green onion. It can be eaten by itself or in soups.
Best Site: In a sunny location in cool weather.
Quantity: 10-12 plants per box.
Training, pruning: Leeks do not require much, make sure to pick off any dead or brown leaves.
Time to Harvest: Harvest in 8 to 10 weeks.
Harvest: Lift out leeks with a spading fork when stems are 1-2 inches thick.
Pest control: Regular applications of essential oil are recommended.
