The Rio Red Grapefruit, derived from the Ruby Red Grapefruit, is nearly seedless with sweet and juicy red-to-pink flesh and thick yellow skin. It hails from Texas, and like all things Texan, it is big — in fact, it is the largest of the grapefruit varieties. The Rio Red tree typically grows well in hot inland regions but also grows well on the coast.
